French President Emmanuel Macron warned the Israeli Occupation Saturday that the goal of completely destroying Hamas would risk unleashing "a decade-long war," according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"So this objective must be clarified," Macron said, as he questioned the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) end-goal in Gaza.

Macron also called for greater efforts to halt all hostilities in the Gaza Strip, which has been under intense IOF aggression since Friday following the end of a week-long truce

Speaking at a press conference in Dubai, where he was participating in the United Nations Climate Conference (COP28), Macron said, "It is very clear that the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip is a matter of concern and has been the focus of many discussions."

"This situation requires doubling efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire, to release all those detained by Hamas, and to provide the residents of Gaza with the urgent assistance they need, in order to make [the Israeli Occupation] confident in the restoration of its security."
