The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced that the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 47 kg of cocaine through international drug trafficking networks in collaboration with three individuals inside Jordan.

The case is considered one of the largest dealt with since the beginning of the year.

The PSD's spokesperson mentioned that an investigative team from the AND has been working on the case for weeks regarding three people in the Kingdom collaborating with international criminal networks to smuggle drugs.

Their attempt involved introducing large quantities of narcotic substances into the kingdom.

The spokesperson affirmed that the investigative team, after prolonged efforts and meticulous monitoring, successfully identified the suspected postal parcel upon its arrival.

It was immediately seized, and upon inspection, it was found to contain 47 kg of both coffee beans and cocoa, which turned out to be cocaine made to look like coffee beans and cocoa powder.

After receiving laboratory reports confirming the nature of the narcotic substance, several raid teams were formed to move to the locations of the three suspects involved in the case. They were apprehended after a raid, and several firearms were seized in their possession. The suspects were then referred to the Public Prosecutor of the State Security Court.

The spokesperson noted that cooperation will begin with several law enforcement agencies in various countries to identify members of the criminal network and take appropriate actions against them.
