His Majesty King Abdullah II, in a meeting Saturday with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, affirmed the necessity for the United States to play a leadership role in advancing a political solution for the Palestinian Cause and achieve peace based on a two-state solution.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, His Majesty called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the protection of civilians, and warned of the repercussions of the continued war on international peace and security, emphasizing that it would lead to more violence and conflict, and ultimately resulting in a catastrophe that everyone would pay for.

Both sides expressed their rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the residents of Gaza internally or externally, or to reoccupy any parts of the sector.

His Majesty reiterated the importance of continuing to provide sustained and sufficient aid to Gaza, including food, medicine, water, fuel, and electricity, without any disruptions - and warned against the ongoing targeting of hospitals and preventing entry of medical aid.

His Majesty also cautioned against any attempt to separate the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, considering both an integral part of a unified Palestinian state.

His Majesty highlighted the dangers of the Israeli Occupation escalation in the West Bank and the violence faced by Palestinians at the hands of extremist settlers, and expressed concerns that such actions could lead to the situation in the West Bank spiraling out of control.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, as well as the Director of the King's Office, Dr. Jafar Hassan.
