Vice President of the Jordanian Hotel Association, Hussein Hilalat, stated that the decrease in tourist arrivals and its subsequent impact on hotel occupancy rates has led to the closure of four hotels in Petra and Aqaba.

Speaking to Roya on Tuesday, Hilalat mentioned that these closures, three in Petra and one in Aqaba, are a direct consequence of the ongoing regional events, particularly the Israeli Occupation's aggressive actions against the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized the lingering concerns about potential layoffs for dozens of employees if the aggression in Gaza persists, casting a gloom over Jordan's tourism sector, particularly in Petra, which relies heavily on inbound tourism.

Hilalat clarified that the aggression against Gaza has had a significant and direct impact on Jordan's tourism sector and hotels.
