A severe storm hit California, causing massive floods and leaving nearly half a million homes without power, authorities announced Monday evening.

US authorities reported that the severe storm caused at least three deaths in California, with the state experiencing heavy rainfall continuously for over 24 hours.

California Governor Gavin Newsom warned, "This storm may have life-threatening consequences," declaring a state of emergency in eight out of the state's 58 counties.

He noted that among the most affected counties by the storm are Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Santa Barbara, all located in the southern part of the state.

The city of Los Angeles experienced floods, leading to road closures and hazardous landslides.

This situation prompted authorities to issue evacuation orders for the Hollywood Hills and Santa Monica areas overlooking the city.
