Jordanian national team star Musa Al-Tamari gave his first statement after Al-Nashama’s loss to Qatar in the final of the Asian Cup championship.

“You all were with us wherever we were. Our Nashama fans, as God is my witness, we have done what we needed to do out of love for Jordan and for you, so forgive us,” Al-Tamari posted on his Instagram account.

“Thank you to [the fans] and to the Jordanian national team on the field, to the King and to the people, and we ask Allah to grant us what we desire in the coming days.”

Al-Tamari scored three goals and assisted one in 538 minutes in the tournament, and was one of Jordan’s key players in scoring its best-ever result in their Asian Cup history.

The Jordanian national team reached the final of the Asian Cup for the first time in its history after defeating South Korea 2-0 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, before coming off as second-best in the final against Qatar in a controversial match that saw host nation and reigning champions defend their title on the back of three penalties.
