The United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Sunday for treatment of “ symptoms suggesting an emergent bladder issue,” Per Reuters citing officials of the Walter Reed Medical Center.

Austin transferred his duties to Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, according to the pentagon press secretary.

Austin was under intense scrutiny last month after failing to disclose his previous hospitalization to the relevant officials, particularly President Joe Biden - and he is set to testify before congress on Feb. 29 regarding this issue.
