Government announces end of Monday’s workday at 2:00 PM

An official statement has been issued to end the working hours of ministries, government departments, and public institutions at 2:00 PM on Monday.

Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh has issued an official statement ordering the end of the workday today, Monday, the 12th of February, at 2:00 PM for all ministries, government departments, public institutions, authorities, official universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and government-owned companies.

The statement exempts ministries, official departments, and institutions whose nature of work dictates otherwise.

The Ministry of Labor clarified that the decree includes the private sector.

The decree reads as follows:

"For the purpose of receiving and honoring the national football team, which emerged as runner-up in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, and to allow all official and popular events the opportunity to celebrate this occasion, the working day on Monday, the 12th of February 2024, ends at 2:00 PM for all ministries, government departments, public institutions, authorities, official universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and government-owned companies, except for ministries, official departments, and institutions whose nature of work dictates otherwise."

The decree was expected by citizens earlier Monday, to allow for the opportunity to welcome the Jordanian national football team after its return from Qatar and earning second place in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

Jordanians are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the national football team in the capital, Amman, at 5:00 PM on Monday. The Jordanian public have called for a massive reception to welcome the national team heroes upon their arrival in the homeland after their outstanding performance in the Asian Cup.

The national team’s plane is scheduled to land at Queen Alia International Airport at 5:00 PM local time.
