The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday that a vessel belonging to the US Coast Guard seized advanced conventional weapons and other lethal aid originating from Iran, destined for areas controlled by Houthis in Yemen.

CENTCOM stated that a US Coast Guard fast-response vessel assigned to the US Navy's Central Command identified the ship's location in the Arabian Sea.

The team discovered over 200 packages containing components of medium-range ballistic missiles, explosives, underwater/surface unmanned vehicles (UUV/USV), military communication equipment and networks, anti-tank guided missile launchers, and other military components.

It deemed that the supply, sale, direct or indirect transfer of such aid violates United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 (as extended and renewed under Resolutions 2675 and 2707).

General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command, said, "this is yet another example of Iran’s malign activity in the region."

"Their continued supply of advanced conventional weapons to the Houthis is in direct violation of international law and continues to undermine the safety of international shipping and the free flow of commerce," he added.
