The representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague stated that the Israeli occupation’s actions indicate a lack of intention for peace.
In the arguments he presented before the ICJ, Saudi Arabia’s representative asserted that “Israel” has made it impossible to establish a Palestinian state by annexing millions of dunams of land and erecting over 279 illegal settlements.
Over the course of a week, diplomats and representatives of 52 countries have been delivering their remarks - led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki.
In light of a UN resolution dating back to 2022, the oral hearings will continue until the 26th of February, during which each country is allotted a 30-minute intervention. Only the Palestinian representative is entitled to present a briefing lasting 3 hours, which occurred on Monday at the outset of the International Court of Justice sessions.
Ultimately, the Court will issue a non-binding advisory opinion regarding the Israeli occupation and their failure to enforce international law in Palestinian territories.
