The Jordan Food & Drug Administration (JFDA), led by Director General Nizar Muhaidat, provided key insights into Jordan's pharmaceutical landscape. They reported that Jordan hosts 4,498 locally registered medicines alongside 4,117 imported ones, with the country boasting 1,264 pharmacies.

In terms of pricing transparency, the JFDA actively monitors medicine prices by distributing them to pharmacies across Jordan. Citizens can conveniently access this information through the Food and Drug Administration website.

Here, individuals can search for medicines by either their scientific or commercial name to ascertain their prices.

Highlighting the JFDA's regulatory efforts, Muhaidat mentioned that in 2023, the institution conducted a total of 60,089 inspections. These inspections led to 36,041 warnings issued. Additionally, 1,448 facilities were referred to the public prosecutor, 2,284 were suspended from operation, and 538 were closed.

Muhaidat further assured the public that all medicines advertised on social media platforms are closely monitored to guarantee their safety.

Addressing concerns about the Red Sea crisis, Muhaidat confirmed to Roya that Jordan has not encountered any spoiled food items due to delays caused by Red Sea disturbances.
