During a meeting at Al-Husseiniya Palace on Sunday, King Abdullah II cautioned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas about the risk of prolonging the conflict in Gaza during Ramadan, warning that it could lead to further escalation.

In the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza to protect innocent civilians, reaffirming Jordan's commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the region.

The King also expressed concerns about Israeli escalations in the West Bank, settler extremism against Palestinians, and violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He reiterated Jordan's rejection of any attempts to divide the West Bank and Gaza, stressing their unity as part of a single Palestinian state.

King Abdullah II emphasized the importance of ongoing Arab coordination to find a just solution to the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution. President Abbas briefed on developments in the West Bank and Jerusalem, highlighting the need for close cooperation to serve the Palestinian cause and safeguard the sanctities of Jerusalem.

President Abbas praised Jordan's unwavering stance under King Abdullah II's leadership in calling for an end to the Gaza conflict, protecting civilians, and urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people. He commended the King's efforts to alleviate the suffering of Gaza's residents amid the ongoing aggression.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al-Safadi, Director of the King's Office Dr. Jaafar Hassan, and Director of General Intelligence Major General Ahmed Hosni from the Jordanian side. From the Palestinian side, attendees included Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein Al-Sheikh, head of the General Intelligence Service Major General Majid Faraj, President’s Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan Atallah Khairi.
