The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has denounced the Israeli Occupation authorities' efforts to construct a tower atop the Al-Tanaksiya School, situated on the western side of the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, considering it a blatant violation of international law and the established historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its sacred sites.

The ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al-Qudah, said the Al-Tanaksiya School is an integral part of the esteemed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif complex and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ambassador Al-Qudah emphasized the international community's obligation to uphold its responsibilities and take necessary measures to safeguard the cultural heritage within Jerusalem's Old City, in accordance with UNESCO agreements, resolutions, and decisions.

The ambassador cautioned that Israeli Occupation's persistent disregard for international legal norms and its ongoing constraints on worshippers' access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, particularly amidst the continuing aggressive onslaught on the Gaza Strip and with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, pose a serious risk of inciting further violence and escalation.
