Jordan witnessed a significant decrease in its oil bill during the year 2023, with the decrease rate reaching 16.9 percent compared to 2022.

Last year, the value of the oil bill reached JD 2.956 billion, compared to JD 3.556 billion in 2022.

The value of the decrease in the oil bill during the past year amounted to approximately JD 600 million, compared to 2022.

This decline helped alleviate the burden on the country's general budget, positively impacting the reduction of Jordan's imports by 6.0 percent, leading to a 10 percent decrease in the trade deficit.

Fuel and mineral oils topped Jordan's imports of petroleum derivatives last year, reaching JD 962 million, compared to JD 985 million in 2022, followed by crude oil, petroleum, at around JD 741 million in the past year, compared to JD 962 million in 2022.

Jordan's diesel imports during 2023 amounted to approximately JD 588 million, compared to JD 787 million in the previous year, while gasoline imports reached JD 618 million, compared to JD 771 million in 2022.

Kerosene reached around JD 9 million in 2023, compared to JD 13 million, and lubricating oils around JD 38 million in 2023, compared to JD 37 million in 2022.
