Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi denied Wednesday that Egypt had never closed the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that his country has always kept it open.
Sisi stated that he "hopes that a ceasefire is agreed upon in the Strip in the coming days and for a genuine relief operation for the population to take place."
Sisi added that "Egypt is keen for the Rafah crossing to be an opportunity, a route, and a pathway for providing aid and relieving those in need."
He clarified that "for Egypt to provide assistance in conflict situations, it is essential to ensure that no problems arise during its implementation."
