Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that no Jordanian citizens were harmed in a recent fire that erupted at a commercial complex in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al-Qudah, Director of the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, confirmed that the Jordanian Embassy in Islamabad confirmed this after contacting Bangladeshi authorities.

The fire broke out in a restaurant on Bailey Road on Thursday evening and quickly spread to upper floors, trapping many individuals. Fortunately, fire brigades were able to bring the situation under control within two hours.

Despite the severity of the incident, no Jordanians were among the 75 people rescued, although 43 required medical attention after losing consciousness.

Bangladesh has witnessed previous tragedies due to lax enforcement of safety regulations, including a fire in July 2021 that claimed 52 lives and another in February 2019 that resulted in 70 fatalities.
