Mosfer Alnomeir, Yemeni Minister of Communications and Information Technology, called for maritime cable ships to obtain permission before entering Yemeni territorial waters.

His remarks came following an announcement by an international telecommunications company that at least four underwater communication cables were damaged last week in the Red Sea.

The Houthis have attributed any damage to the cables to attacks by the US and British forces.

However, the Ministry of Communications, affiliated with the Houthi government, has refuted claims circulated by Western media regarding the incidents involving several international maritime cables in the Red Sea on February 24.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to assisting in processing permit requests and providing ship identification to the Yemeni naval forces, emphasizing that such measures are taken to ensure their safety.

Furthermore, the ministry clarified that Yemen's decision to prohibit the passage of vessels belonging to the Israeli Occupation does not extend to ships owned by international companies licensed to conduct maritime cable operations in Yemeni waters.

Since November, the Houthis have persistently launched attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.
