Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Monday to move immediately to enact a broadcast ban in “Israel” of  “Al-Jazeera.”

"The terrorist channel Al Jazeera will no longer broadcast from Israel. I intend to act immediately in accordance with the new law to stop the channel's activities," Netanyahu said in a post on his “X” account, formerly known as Twitter.

The Knesset approved on second and third readings a bill allowing the closure of foreign media outlets in "Israel", garnering 71 votes in favor and 10 votes against.

"Al-Jazeera harmed Israel's security, actively participated in the October 7 massacre, and incited against IDF soldiers. It is time to remove the shofar of Hamas from our country," he added.

Netanyahu has called on the Knesset earlier today to pass the “Al-Jazeera” law, which would grant the “Israel” government power to shut down foreign news networks - as reported by the “The Times of Israel”.

In a statement, Netanyahu’s Likud party says that Netanyahu spoke with parliamentary whip of the coalition Ofir Katz to ensure the bill’s passage in the second and third readings which are scheduled today.

Netanyahu vowed to “immediately act to close Al Jazeera” if the law goes through - as it will give the Prime Minister and the Communications Minister the authority to order the closure of foreign networks operating in “Israel” if it is believed that they pose “an actual harm [Israel’s] security.”
