King Abdullah II, Spanish PM discuss Gaza ceasefire in Amman meeting

His Majesty King Abdullah II welcomed Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at Al-Husseiniya Palace on Tuesday, as part of ongoing efforts to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.

During the meeting, the critical situation in Gaza was discussed, with His Majesty emphasizing the urgency of halting the aggression, protecting civilians, and intensifying the delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical assistance to the Strip, ensuring its continuous provision.

In the presence of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, King Abdullah II commended Spain's supportive stance towards the Gaza ceasefire, its proactive engagement in humanitarian aid efforts, including aid airdrops, and its commitment to peace initiatives based on the two-state solution.

His Majesty also emphasized the importance of sustained support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to enable it to fulfill its mandate effectively, particularly given the dire situation in Gaza.

Reiterating that a just resolution to the Palestinian issue is essential for regional peace and stability, King Abdullah II underscored the significance of the two-state solution.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al-Safadi, Director of His Majesty the King’s Office Dr. Jaafar Hassan, members of the Spanish Prime Minister's delegation, and Spanish Ambassador to Amman Miguel de Lucas.
