A royal decree was issued, on Tuesday, approving the General Pardon Law of 2024.

Earlier, the Senate approved the General Pardon draft Law for the year 2024 as it was referred to by the House of Representatives with no amendments.

The Senate discussed the law to follow its constitutional procedures, after it was approved by the Legal Committee in the Senate during its meeting yesterday, Wednesday, as received from the House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives approved the draft law in a single session as received from the Cabinet, without adding any amendments or expanding the scope of crimes covered by the law, despite demands from some Members of the Parliament calling for additional crimes to be included in the pardon.

This came after King Abdullah II instructed the government to draft a General Pardon law and follow through with its constitutional protocols.
