His Majesty King Abdullah II and the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, in a phone call today, Wednesday stressed the need to ensure the protection of aid workers in the Gaza Strip.

This comes after the death of seven aid workers from the charity organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) in an “Israeli” airstrike that targeted their vehicle on Monday.

Several Western powers have condemned the strike, in addition to calling for urgent and thorough investigations into the incident.

The UK has summoned the “Israeli” ambassador to deliver the country’s “unequivocal condemnation” of the killing of three British and four other staff of the “World Central Kitchen” charity organization in the missile strike in Gaza.

The United States has urgently called for an investigation into the airstrike.

“Israel should do more to protect innocent civilian lives,” said the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a joint press conference with his French counterpart in Paris, and called for a “swift, impartial investigation to understand exactly what happened” with the deadly strike.

"What we have impressed upon the Israelis is to do more to protect innocent civilian lives, be they innocent Palestinian children or aid workers,” Blinken added.

France on Tuesday "strongly" condemned the strike, joining other world powers in denouncing the Israeli Occupation.

"Protecting humanitarian workers is a moral and legal imperative that everyone must adhere to," French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne said in Paris, "Nothing justifies such a tragedy."
