Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that Jordan has summoned the Iranian ambassador in Amman to warn Tehran of “questioning Jordan’s position” - in statements broadcasted Sunday.

“We will intercept every drone or missile that violates Jordan’s airspace to avert any danger,” Safadi added, “anything posing a threat to Jordan and the security of Jordanians, we will confront it with all our capabilities and resources.”

Safadi emphasized that if the threat of drones and rockets falling into Jordan was from “Israel”, Jordan would take the same action as it did yesterday to intercept the Iranian airborne attack.

“There was an assessment that there was a real danger of Iranian drones and rockets falling on Jordan, and the armed forces dealt with this threat.”

The Iranian escalation against “Israel” on Saturday night has been cautioned against since the outset of the aggression against the Strip, Safadi said.

“We cautioned that the continuation of the war on Gaza would lead towards further escalation and tension in the region.”

Safadi shed light on the challenge of refocusing attention to the ongoing aggression against Gaza and ending it, in light of yesterday’s event shifting away attention from the all-out war waged against the Strip.

“We warned that Netanyahu would attempt to provoke a confrontation with Iran to drag the United States and the West into a regional war, diverting focus towards Iran and forgetting Gaza.”

“The only way to de-escalate is by halting the Israeli war on Gaza,” he concluded.
