American media and news agencies reported that the New York Police arrested students and faculty members at several American universities, after organizing pro-Palestinian demonstrations and opposing the war on the Gaza Strip.

Universities also decided to suspend students from studying and cancel their attendance at universities due to their solidarity with the Palestinians.

Reuters reported that Columbia University in New York decided to cancel the attendance of students after evacuating a camp set up by students to protest the war in Gaza.

For its part, CNN reported that the New York Police arrested students and faculty members at New York University during a pro-Palestinian demonstration at the university.

On the other hand, the Palestine Solidarity Committee at Harvard University said that the university suspended the work of the committee after months of administrative repression, harassment, and intimidation from right-wing politicians and donors.

Hundreds of faculty members at Columbia University in New York organized a mass strike on Monday to protest a decision to arrest students at a pro-Palestinian protest last week.

In addition, Harvard University stated that the students and the Palestine Solidarity Committee have been placed under retrospective surveillance since March 1.
