A gunman attacked a mosque in Herat province, western Afghanistan, resulting in six deaths and one injury, according to the Afghan Ministry of Interior, as reported by the French news agency AFP.

The ministry's statement explained that the attack occurred in the Gozara area, west of Herat city, where the gunman opened fire at worshipers.

It confirmed the death toll of six civilians with another person injured, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
