US Central Command announced on Thursday the installation of a temporary pier on the Gaza coast to facilitate humanitarian aid in the Strip.

The Central Command added that the temporary pier was set up on the Gaza beach in the morning of Al-Khais as part of the mission to provide aid to Palestinians.

Trucks carrying humanitarian aid are expected to start moving to the beach in the coming days, with the United Nations overseeing the aid's distribution in Gaza.

NBC News reported that relief shipments are anticipated to begin within 24 to 48 hours.

The United States is transporting a floating dock system to deliver vital humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip port and plans to install it within the next 24 hours, as stated by three US officials.

An American official mentioned that the components of the pier are being moved from the port of Ashdod to Gaza, where they will be connected to the shore to facilitate the delivery of international humanitarian aid.

Washington stated that the temporary dock off the coast of Gaza, which the United States began constructing last month, comes at a cost of USD 320 million.
