His Majesty King Abdullah II received the Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström at Al Husseiniya Palace on Tuesday. They discussed key regional developments and the dire situation in Gaza – per the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC).

His Majesty called for maintaining support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to enable it to carry out its vital role.

His Majesty stressed the need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Strip, emphasizing the international community's responsibility to ensure the continuous and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He warned against the violence perpetrated by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.

His Majesty underscored the necessity of creating a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for Sweden's support for peace efforts in accordance with the two-state solution, its backing for the ceasefire in Gaza, and its continued support for UNRWA.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Director of the King's Office Dr. Jaafar Hassan, and Swedish Ambassador to Amman Alexandra Rydmark.
