Jordan and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of investment on Thursday, which aims to enhance mutual investment opportunities between the two countries in various sectors.

The MoU covers sectors in information and communication technology, food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, energy, mining, tourism, and logistics services, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA).

The Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Sultan bin Salim Al-Habsi, said that the authority had sent a delegation to Jordan recently to identify several sectors where cooperation with the Kingdom could be established.

He stated that the MoU formalizes the relationship between OIA and the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) to further enhance development.

According to the ONA, Al-Habsi also mentioned ongoing discussions in the early stages of real estate development and the intention to explore establishing a direct shipping line between the Port of Aqaba and ports in Oman.
