His Majesty King Abdullah II received a phone call on Monday from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, during which they both emphasized the need for international efforts to halt the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

During the call, His Majesty stressed the importance of the international community moving urgently to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Strip, according to a statement issued by the Royal Hashemite Court.

He also emphasized the necessity of stopping the occupation's military operations in Rafah and protecting innocent civilians.

His Majesty commended Norway's step towards recognizing the Palestinian state, as well as its role in sending relief aid to the people of the sector.

He reiterated his emphasis on the need to support the Palestinian people in obtaining all their legitimate rights and establishing their independent state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem, based on the two-state solution.
