His Majesty King Abdullah II met today with the Czech President Petr Pavel to discuss the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and the dangerous situation in Gaza, at a meeting attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein and Al Husseiniya Palace – according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC).

During the bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one, His Majesty stressed the need to halt the escalation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and urged international efforts to increase humanitarian and medical aid to the people of the Gaza Strip and sustain it.

In the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to protect civilians.

The King warned against the hostile acts perpetrated by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank and violations against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.

His Majesty reiterated that there can be no peace and stability in the region without a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.

The King affirmed the depth of relations between the two countries and friendly peoples, which marks sixty years since their establishment this year, expressing Jordan's keenness to enhance cooperation with the Czech Republic in various fields.

The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty's Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Majd Al-Qudah, the head of the accompanying honorary mission for the visiting president, the accompanying delegation for the Czech president, and the Czech Ambassador to the Kingdom, Alexander Sporysch.

The Czech President was formally received with an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at Al Husseiniya Palace.
