French President Emmanuel Macron urged the Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmud Abbas to "implement necessary reforms” in a phone call on Wednesday – a statement by Macron’s office said, cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Macron also offered Abbas the prospect of “recognition of the state of Palestine” in addition to highlighting “France’s commitment to building a common vision of peace with European and Arab countries, offering security guarantees for Palestinians and Israelis.”

The Elysee Palace’s statement added that France aims to “make the prospect of recognition of a state of Palestine part of a useful process.”
