The Council of Ministers convened on Sunday to examine the latest report presented by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply regarding price hikes and to ensure the stability of essential goods.

Minister Yusuf Al-Shamali outlined the comprehensive strategies implemented to tackle the escalating prices while safeguarding the strategic reserves of crucial commodities.

Drawing from meticulous monitoring of 90 essential items, the minister revealed a mixed pattern of market movements. Notably, 56 key commodities demonstrated price stability, instilling a sense of reassurance among consumers and stakeholders alike. In contrast, 28 other commodities experienced a decline in prices, a positive indicator reflecting the efficacy of the implemented measures.

However, amidst these encouraging trends, concerns persist as prices for six essential items, notably certain vegetables and meats, saw an upward trajectory. Shamali acknowledged these challenges, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to mitigate any adverse impacts on consumers.

Shamali affirmed that the ministry continues its supervisory tours of markets and establishments, with nearly 3,273 visits to commercial establishments during the past two weeks, resulting in the issuance of 162 violations in accordance with the provisions of the law.
