Maldives government has prohibited 'Israelis' from entering the Indian Ocean archipelago, renowned for its luxury resorts.

This decision is in response to growing public outrage in the Muslim-majority country over the Israeli Occupation's actions in Gaza.

President Mohamed Moiso's office announced on Sunday that the Council of Ministers decided to amend laws to bar "Israeli" passport holders from entering the country and to establish a subcommittee to oversee this decision's implementation.

The statement also mentioned that President Moiso would appoint a special envoy to assess Palestinian needs and launch a fundraising campaign to support them.

The Israeli Occupation Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised 'Israeli' citizens to avoid traveling to the Maldives following the entry ban for 'Israeli' passport holders and warned 'Israelis' in the Maldives that it would be difficult to assist them if they encounter any distress.

Associated Press said that approximately 11,000 'Israelis' visited the Maldives last year, accounting for 0.6 percent of the total tourists.

On May 20, President Moiso emphasized that no country is above international law and stressed the importance of holding those who commit war crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories accountable.

In a post on the "X" platform, the President of the Maldives praised the International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan's request to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Security Minister Yoav Gallant, calling it "an important step in the pursuit of justice."

He added that those who commit war crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories must be held accountable and expressed confidence that the Prosecutor's Office has gathered sufficient evidence to prove Israeli Occupation committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
