The Ministry of Education in Jordan has officially released the academic calendar for private and public schools for the upcoming academic year 2024/2025.

For private schools, Dr. Issam Al-Omari, the ministry's spokesperson, disclosed to Roya on Monday the key dates.

Teaching staff will commence work on Aug. 25, 2024, with students starting their first semester on Sep. 1, 2024. The winter break, spanning from Jan. 8, 2025, to Jan. 30, 2025, marks the interim between the first and second semesters. The second semester will kick off on Feb. 2, 2025, and students will embark on their summer vacation starting June 25, 2025.

As for public schools, the schedule includes key dates such as the commencement of teaching staff's work on Aug. 11, 2024, and textbook distribution and student registration on Aug. 14 and 15, 2024. Students will commence their first semester on Aug. 18, 2024.

During the academic year, final achievement tests for the first semester for basic education and secondary school students (11th and 12th grades) are scheduled from Dec. 18, 2024, to Jan. 5, 2025.

Winter vacation will follow from Jan. 6, 2025, to Jan. 16, 2025.

The second semester will begin on Jan. 19, 2025, with final achievement tests for 12th grade secondary school students from May 7, 2025, to May 24, 2025, and for basic education and eleventh grade secondary school students from June 1, 2025, to June 25, 2025.

The academic year will conclude with the completion of school results and certificates on June 30, 2025, totaling 217 working days.
