The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Cairo Monday to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi as part of a regional tour that includes stops in Qatar, Jordan, and “Israel”.

Cairo is the first stop on Blinken's eighth regional tour since the start of “Israel's” aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

Later on Monday, Blinken is scheduled to head to Tel Aviv after holding talks with the Egyptian president regarding the reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, which has been closed for a month, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

According to a previous statement from the US State Department, Blinken will discuss with partners the need to reach a ceasefire agreement that secures the release of all captives.

In Tel Aviv, Blinken is expected to meet with “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, according to the schedule announced by the State Department.

In Jordan, Blinken will attend a conference on the urgent humanitarian response to Gaza, co-hosted by Jordan, Egypt, and the United Nations.

During his visit to Tel Aviv, Blinken will address the proposed deal presented by President Joe Biden and push for its potential realization.
