The insurance and social protection expert Mousa Al-Sbihi called for an urgent government decision to include additional and refugee education teachers in maternity insurance.

Al-Sbihi stated in a Facebook post on Wednesday that these teachers, supervised by the Ministry of Education, should have the same rights as other public sector workers.

He noted that the exclusion deprived these teachers of paid maternity leave, which was covered by the Social Security Corporation for insured women. They were entitled to their full salary during the 70-day maternity leave as stipulated by labor law.

Al-Sbihi highlighted that these workers were not subject to the Civil Service System or labor law, thus denying them 90 days of paid maternity leave according to the Civil Service System.

He stressed the need for an urgent decision to expand their rights and ensure equality with other workers.

Al-Sbihi urged the Council of Ministers to issue a decision, recommended by the Board of Directors of the Social Security Corporation, to end the exclusion of additional and refugee education workers from maternity insurance. This would ensure they received maternity leave benefits on equal footing with other workers in different sectors.
