The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that the number of deaths among Jordanian pilgrims performing Hajj has risen to 14, with 17 pilgrims reported missing.
Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, Director of the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, confirmed that the Ministry, through the Directorate and the Kingdom's Consulate General in Jeddah, is coordinating with the relevant Saudi authorities to expedite the burial procedures for the deceased pilgrims and facilitate the repatriation of those whose families wish to have their bodies returned to Jordan as quickly as possible. They are also actively working on locating the 17 missing pilgrims.
Ambassador Qudah expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased pilgrims.
He clarified that the deceased and missing pilgrims are not part of the official Jordanian Hajj delegation. He urged all Jordanian citizens performing Hajj to seek assistance if needed, available around the clock, through the following contacts:
