The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates continues to search for missing Jordanian pilgrims and manage the burial procedures for those who passed away while performing Hajj. The government is covering the costs for transporting the bodies of those whose families wish to bring them back to Jordan.

Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, Director of the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, stated that the Jordanian Consulate team in Mecca, part of the crisis cell formed by the ministry, issued 41 burial permits for Jordanian pilgrims, allowing their burial in Mecca as per their families' wishes. These individuals were not part of the official Jordanian Hajj delegation.

Ambassador Qudah confirmed that the crisis cell, operating around the clock in coordination with the Jordanian Consulate in Jeddah, the Jordanian Embassy in Riyadh, and the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf Hajj mission, is handling the burial procedures for Jordanian pilgrims who died from heatstroke due to the extreme heat. The cell also searches for missing pilgrims and ensures their prompt return to Jordan.

Ambassador Qudah emphasized that the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs is in continuous contact with the families of deceased and missing Jordanian pilgrims. The consulate team in Mecca visits injured pilgrims in hospitals to check on their condition and extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.

Ambassador Qudah expressed gratitude to the Saudi authorities for assisting the Jordanian consulate team in Mecca, providing necessary medical care, helping identify the deceased, and facilitating burial and transportation procedures.
