List of remaining public holidays in Jordan for rest of 2024

As Jordanians return to work after a long holiday, and students resume their studies in schools and universities after the Eid al-Adha holiday; all are anticipating the next official holidays for the rest of the year 2024.

The remaining official holidays in Jordan for the year 2024:

  • Islamic New Year on Sunday, July 7
  • Parliamentary Election Day on Tuesday, September 10
  • Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (known as “Mawlid”) on Sunday, September 15
  • Christmas on Wednesday, December 25

Islamic New Year
The government declares an annual official holiday for the Islamic New Year on the 1st of Muharram, which falls on Sunday, July 7 this year, according to astronomical calculations. However, the final date is determined after the sighting of the crescent moon, as Muharram is a lunar month.

Mawlid
The ninth holiday of 2024 coincides with the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal every Islamic year, which falls on Sunday, September 15 this year. The Kingdom holds extensive celebrations for this religious occasion.

Christmas
Falls on December 25 of each year. Christians hold prayers in churches, streets are decorated with Christmas trees, and various events are organized in different parts of the country.
