The Israeli Occupation army announced it conducted maintenance on the electricity supply in Gaza to prevent disease outbreaks and protect soldiers and captives.

The army stated that the efforts were to treat sewage and prevent diseases, which would endanger soldiers and captives in the field.

The electricity connection from occupied territories to Gaza was also intended to operate a desalination plant, providing drinking water to Mawasi, Khan Younis, and Deir al-Balah. The plant required 5 megawatts daily, supplying 20,000 cubic meters of water per day.
