Germany strongly condemned remarks made by "Israeli" National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who called for the execution of Palestinian prisoners by shooting them in the head.

Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesman Christian Wagner denounced the comments as "disgusting" during a press briefing in Berlin, Anadolu Agency reported.

Wagner emphasized Germany's firm condemnation but did not specify whether there would be political consequences for Ben-Gvir's statements.

Earlier this week, a video was widely shared on social media of Ben-Gvir stating, "It is unfortunate that I have had to deal in recent days with whether Palestinian prisoners should receive fruit baskets…They should be killed with a shot to the head."

He further asserted that until legislation allows for such executions, prisoners would receive minimal sustenance, stating he was unconcerned about their well-being.

"Israel" currently detains approximately 9,300 Palestinian prisoners, with 3,410 held under administrative detention without charge or trial, according to Addameer, a Palestinian prisoner rights group.

Many face unsubstantiated allegations and lack access to legal representation, and all Palestinians are tried in military courts, a practice contrary to international law.
