Maryam Hassanein, Special Assistant and Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the US Department of Interior, has announced her resignation from her post in protest of the Joe Biden’s administration's support for “Israel” in the aggression against Gaza.

Hassanein’s resignation marks the third one for the Biden's administration staffers since Oct. 7, 2023.

“I cannot continue working for an administration that ignores the voices of its diverse staff by continuing to fund and enable Israel’s genocide of Palestinians,” Maryam Hassanein wrote in her resignation letter, posted on her “X” account.

Hassanein, 24 years old, is the youngest staffer to resign in protest of the administration’s policy in support of the Israeli Occupation

“I joined the Biden-Harris administration with the belief that my voice and diverse perspective would lend a hand in the pursuit of that justice,” Hassanein continued in her letter.

“However, over the past nine months of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, this administration has chosen to uphold the status quo instead of listening to the diverse voices of staff urgently demanding freedom and justice for Palestinians.”
