The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced that 87,000 out of 140,000 taxpayers, or 62 percent, have registered in the National Billing System.

The ministry reported that the annual sales value of registered taxpayers is JD 65 billion out of a total of JD 68 billion, representing 95 percent.

Last year, the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) processed 982,000 electronic transactions. This year, 390,000 income tax returns and 82,000 sales tax returns have been submitted.

Mousa Al-Tarawneh, an advisor at the department, urged those fined for not registering to rectify their status by joining the system and appealing the fines.

The department emphasized that the billing system is a reform measure, not a tax increase, and does not add financial burdens on taxpayers. It can process 60 million invoices daily, ensuring high security and information protection.
