The Public Security Directorate (PSD) warned against the danger of running a red traffic light.

The PSD emphasized that running a red light puts the driver’s life and the lives of other road users at great risk, as it is considered the shortest route to death or severe injury.

Anyone committing this violation will be punished with imprisonment for no less than one month and no more than two months, according to an amended law, or a fine ranging between JD200 and JD300, and six traffic points will be recorded on the violator's driving record.

The directorate added that if the violation is repeated within one year from the date of its commission, the financial fine will be doubled as stipulated by law.
