Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned today that the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip threatens the Middle East and undermines peace efforts.

What is happening in Gaza is a catastrophe and a disgrace to the international community, and it must stop immediately,” Safadi said during a press conference with EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell at the 15th EU-Jordan Association Council held in Brussels.

Safadi re-iterated that a two-state solution is the only way to achieve security and stability in the region, and that Jordan will continue their efforts to put an end to the suffering of civilians in Gaza and achieve a ceasefire.

For his part, the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell said the tragedy in Gaza has exceeded all limits and what is happening is unacceptable.

He condemned the attacks on the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid convoys carried out by “Israeli” settlers in the Occupied Territories.

Borrell added that the European Union rejects any attempts to classify the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a terrorist organization.
