The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) reported detecting a high concentration of the polio-causing virus in Gaza’s sewage system.

Samples from various areas were analyzed and found to contain traces of the infectious poliovirus, according to the IOF, indicating contamination through drinking or mouth contact with the affected water.

In response to this discovery, the IOF decided to vaccinate its forces, even as they continue their operations in the strip.

The director of field hospitals in Gaza confirmed the presence of the poliovirus and attributed its spread to the extensive destruction of infrastructure by the Israeli Occupation.

In addition to the polio threat, there has been a notable increase in hepatitis cases in the region.
