The CEO of “Israel’s” Eilat Port revealed that operations at the port have been entirely suspended and a large number of workers have been laid off due to the Houthi campaign in the Red Sea.

The CEO explained that the port's operations ceased because ships are unable to navigate in either direction to reach the port, which is situated in the southern part of the occupied territories, he told the Hebrew newspaper Maariv.

The campaign led to significant economic losses and necessitated the layoff of a substantial portion of the port’s workforce.

The CEO confirmed that port activities have been redirected to the ports of Ashdod and Haifa.

He warned that the financial impact on the Eilat Port will persist unless “Israel” collaborates with allied nations to address the ongoing Houthi campaign.

Meanwhile, Houthi rebels have intensified their attacks on maritime traffic in the Red Sea. On Sunday, the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missiles at the city of Eilat.

In response, the “Israeli” army reported successfully intercepting a missile fired from Yemen that was aimed at Eilat. The Houthis have threatened to continue targeting “Israeli” vessels and ships bound for “Israeli” ports unless the aggression against Gaza is halted.
