The UN Security Council delegates from Russia, Algeria, and China issued strong warnings about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza during a special session.

The Russian delegate, Vassily Nebenzia, stated that Gaza remained in dire straits with no safe place in the sector. He noted that over 50,000 bombs had been dropped on Gaza, destroying homes and civilian infrastructure. Nebenzia warned of the potential for the war to spread to Lebanon and Syria and criticized the Israeli Occupation for hindering humanitarian supplies to Gaza. He called on the Israeli Occupation to adhere to international humanitarian law and take responsibility.

The Algerian delegate, Ammar Benjamaa, emphasized the need for a coordinated response to the crisis, highlighting that starvation was being used as a weapon against civilians. He stressed that the current catastrophe challenged the core of humanity. Benjamaa called for the opening of crossings, including Rafah, and the implementation of Resolution 2720 to ensure aid entry. He condemned collective punishment as a war crime and held the Israeli Occupation responsible for the immense suffering in Gaza.

The Chinese delegate, Zhang Jun, questioned how many more victims and how much more destruction it would take before the tragedy in Gaza ended. He affirmed that UNRWA operated under the UN mandate and opposed attacks aimed at discrediting it. Zhang stressed that the ongoing war, lasting over nine months, had resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. He called for the Israeli Occupation to cease military operations in Gaza and urged Washington to apply pressure to achieve this.

The delegates expressed deep concern over the continued disinformation campaign against UNRWA and the failure to implement Security Council resolutions, which remained unheeded. They urged the international community to take immediate action to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of civilians.
