Former US President Donald Trump responded to ongoing skepticism about the injury to his ear, sustained during an assassination attempt, by reposting a statement from his former physician, Ronny Jackson.

Jackson, now a Republican congressman from Texas, asserted on Truth Social, the platform owned by Trump, that "There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet."

The statement comes after the FBI confirmed on Friday that a bullet injured Trump's ear, whether it was intact or fragmented. This follows earlier remarks by FBI Director Christopher Wray, who indicated uncertainty over whether the injury was caused by a bullet or a fragment.

In reaction to the FBI's statement, Trump criticized Wray's remarks as insufficient and expressed that it represented "the best apology we will get from Director Wray, but it is a fully acceptable apology."

Trump’s campaign has yet to release the official medical reports but relied on statements from Jackson, who has faced controversy in the past.

A 2021 Pentagon investigation found that Jackson "downplayed, bullied, and humiliated" his subordinates during his time at the White House.

The investigation also uncovered Jackson's misconduct, including inappropriate remarks and issues related to his use of sleeping pills while on duty.

In March, it was reported that Jackson had been demoted from Rear Admiral to Captain by the Navy following the investigation.
