Traffic violations in the capital Amman will be monitored through AI systems, targeting behaviors such as mobile phone use, seatbelt non-compliance, lane changes, and improper lane entries, as well as double parking. The system will address these violations through cameras.

The AI-based traffic monitoring will be part of the Amman Smart City project, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion as part of the Greater Amman Municipality's plans.

At an earlier time, Amman’s Mayor, Yousef Shawarbeh, recently unveiled the city’s strategy to address traffic congestion.

Shawarbeh explained that key projects include implementing smart traffic management through the installation of cameras to collect information and data on congestion at specific streets.

This data will reveal peak hours and the number of vehicles entering the city from various governorates. The aim is to use these insights to alleviate traffic jams and develop solutions with the help of artificial intelligence.

Regarding the issue of parking in Amman, Shawarbeh noted that street-side parking will transition to paid rather than free. The plan includes providing public parking spaces at rates that consider employees' incomes, encouraging them to use public transportation, which the Amman Municipality is working to improve and develop.
