The Israeli Occupation Army Radio reported that “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for security consultations on Wednesday afternoon in light of Ismail Haniyeh's assassination.

Hamas announced early Wednesday that its political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Iranian news agencies reported that Haniyeh and one of his personal guards were martyred following an attack on their residence in Tehran.

Tasnim News Agency reported that an investigation into the assassination is ongoing, with results expected to be announced soon. Additionally, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated, "We are studying the details of Haniyeh’s martyrdom in Tehran."

Iranian media noted that Haniyeh was killed by a missile launched from one country to another, rather than from within Iran.

Tasnim News Agency also mentioned that the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will hold a meeting to discuss Haniyeh’s assassination.

Haniyeh arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to attend the inauguration of Iran’s new president, Masoud Bezhkishian, at the Iranian Parliament.

During his visit, Haniyeh met with Bezhkishian and Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
